FAQ - Software Compatibility
Can SecureAware run on Windows 2000?
Yes, Windows 2000 is supported in both Windows 2000 Professional
("Work Station") and the Server version. SecureAware is server
software but does not require a Windows server licenser to
operate.
Can SecureAware run on Windows XP?
Yes, Windows XP is supported.
Can SecureAware run on Windows Server 2003?
Yes, Windows Server 2003 is supported. Please note that you will
need an SecureAware installer dated 16. March, 2004 or newer. While
SecureAware runs just fine on Windows Server 2003, older versions
of the installer shipping with SecureAware had a bug that now has
been fixed.
Can SecureAware run on Linux Redhat?
Yes, Linux Redhat version 7.x and newer is supported.
Can SecureAware run on Windows NT 4.0?
No, we never managed to get the JAVA environment to work well on
NT.
What other operating systems can be used?
SecureAware has been developed as platform independent software
in compliance with the open specification J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise
Edition). SecureAware runs on many platforms. In addition to the
supported platforms Neupart and Neupart's customers have tried
SecureAware on e.g. Mac OS X, OpenBSD and other Linux distributions
than Redhat. Note that Neupart differentiates between 'can run' and
'supported'. "Can run" means that it will most likely work, but
Neupart cannot test and support current and new SecureAware
versions on all available operating systems. That is why we state
that we support Windows 2000, XP, 2003 and Linux Redhat 7.x+
What software needs to be installed at end user's PC?
None. SecureAware is server software. It works like an intranet.
All users, including super user and system administrator only need
an internet browser.
What are the browser requirements for SecureAware?
For end users Internet Explorer 6.0 or newer or Mozilla 3.0 will
do. For the animated films with voice and subtitles to work, the
browser need Macromedia flash support.
